ESTIMATOR
Cumberland, Rhode Island
Overview:
Catalano Construction, Inc. an established Site Excavation & Utility Contractor seeks highly motivated and qualified candidates for a position as an Estimator for bidding projects across Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts out of our Cumberland, Rhode Island office.
Responsibilities:
Review project plans, requirements, and specifications.
Perform detailed, quality take-offs for sitework and civil construction projects including site preparation, underground utility demolition and installation, earthwork, foundation excavations, roadways, walks, and finishes.
Determine labor and equipment costs.
Review and understand all bid documents and assess project risks.
Understand contractual terms and conditions.
Understand and evaluate project logistics and project schedules.
Prepare estimates at different levels of completion (conceptual, Schematic, DD, CD, etc.)
Organize subcontractor and material supplier quotations, ensuring adequate coverage for all scopes of work.
Maintain relationships with sub-contractors and clients while offering proposal clarifications and potential value engineering.
Assist with certain post-bid buyouts.
Communicate estimate / bid information to internal project managers and superintendents to ensure understanding of project conditions, methodology, scheduling, and techniques.
Foster relationships with owners, general contractors, subcontractors, and vendors to facilitate bid future bid opportunities, and long-term partnerships.
Qualifications and Experience:
A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or similar
Minimum of 5 years of previous experience with Civil / Sitework project estimating.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Effective presentation skills.
Exceptional organizational skills, with an attention to detail.
Ability to prioritize workload and meet frequently changing deadlines, in a fast-paced environment.
Experience with estimating software such as The Construction Link, B2W Estimating, InSite Sitework or other comparable estimating software
Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Bluebeam REVU, and AutoCAD
Valid driver’s license
Ability to successfully pass a background check for work at educational and government facilities.
